ANTHONY
A. AIELLOS, (Retired Fire Chief for the City of Hackensack)
died on Monday, December 29, 2008, at Hackensack University Medical
Center at the age of 84 years. A lifelong resident of Hackensack,
Chief Aiellos joined the Hackensack Fire Department on November 1,
1951. He achieved the rank of Lieutenant in 1958, Captain in 1964,
and Deputy Fire Chief in 1968. In 1976 he received a citation for meritorious
service for his ingenuity in planning and implementing the system of
red beacons for locating connections on buildings in Hackensack. He
was installed as Chief of the Fire Department on March 1, 1980 and
retired in 1989. He was a life member of the International Fire
Chief's Association and a member of the New Jersey Career Fire Chief
Association. A Navy Veteran of World War II, he was a member of the
American Legion Post # 55 of Hackensack. He was a past president and
member of the Hackensack Chapter of Unico International and was
honored as Unico Man of the Year in 1978 and received a
Distinguished Community Service Award in 1986. He was a member and
served as a trustee for the Boat Jumpers of Hackensack and was
honored by them in 1990. He was a parishioner of Holy Trinity R. C.
Church of Hackensack. Beloved husband for 63 years of Lucy V. (nee
Lamberti). Devoted father of Lorraine Peschken and her husband Don,
of Lynchburg, Virginia, Michael Aiellos of Totowa, and Thomas
Aiellos and his wife Jessica of Hackensack. Loving grandfather of Dallas
Peschken, Denver Peschken, Michael Aiellos, Christopher
Aiellos, Stephen Aiellos and Matthew Aiellos. Cherished great
grandfather of Dylan, Bethany, Zachary, Liberty and Braxton. Dearest
brother of Chris Aiellos of Rochelle Park, Angelina Kuhnen of
Hackensack, Jennie Semper of Hackensack, Beverly Van Pamel of
Hawthorne and the late Ida Garafalo and Joseph Aiellos. Dear brother
in law of Walter Lamberti and his wife Ellen of Saddle Brook. The Mass of
Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, January 3rd, at
11:00 AM, at Holy Trinity R. C. Church, 34 Maple Avenue, Hackensack.
Interment will follow at Maple Grove Park Cemetery in Hackensack.
Visiting will be on Friday from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 PM.
