November 2, 2007. at the age of 87. Frank was born in 1920 in
Hoboken
,
NJ
. He was the second
of 2 son's to Giacomo Campanella and Marianna (nee Sapienza) of
Union City
. His only brother
Paul died before age 2. At age 22 Frank was inducted into the U.S.
Army during WWII and served 3 years in
Europe
between1942 and
1945. He was awarded the Victory Medal and received the American
Theater Ribbon, the European-African-Middle Eastern Ribbon and the
Good Conduct Medal. He was honorably discharged in December 1945. He
entered private life to join the Hudson United Bank, where he worked
for 30 years in various capacities. Initially he started as a teller
and eventually became a loan officer. His flexibility allowed the
bank to position him in different banks throughout
Hudson
County
during his years of
employment. Frank resided in
Union City
with his parents
until the death of his father in 1972. He then moved to
Cliffside Park
with his mother and
at age 55 he retired to care for his mother until her death in 1988.
His gentleness, understanding nature and good humor endeared him to
all, as did the humility and human kindness he demonstrated
throughout his life. He was truly a beloved friend of the Diciedue
family. He will be forever missed and rembered by all. The Diciedue
family is eternally grateful to Dr. Peter Coppola for his kindness
and compassion while caring for Mr. Campy during his illness. There
will be a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Cecilia's
R.C.
