JOHN D'ELIA SR., a lifelong resident of Hackensack, died on Tuesday, December 21, 2010, at Holy Name Hospital in Teaneck, at the age of 87 years. Prior to retiring, John was a purchasing agent for Lowe's Paper Company of Ridgefield. He was a parishioner of St  Francis R. C. Church where he was a member of the Holy Name Society and the Socialites. He was a former president of Baseball of Hackensack and also served on the Hackensack Youth Guidance Council. Beloved husband of the late Marie (nee Basile). Devoted father of Jo Ann Gassner of Horsham, PA, and John D'Elia Jr. and his wife Susan of Hackensack. Cherished grandfather of Jennifer and John Michael. Dearest brother of Helen Magnifico of Lodi and four brothers and four sisters who predeceased him. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, December 23rd, at St. Francis R. C. at 11:30 AM with burial following at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Hackensack. Visiting will be on Wednesday from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 PM and Thursday morning from 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM. Memorial donations to St. Francis R. C.
