on Tuesday, October 28, 2008 at Hackensack University Medical
Center, at the age of 89 years. Born in
Acquaviva D’Iscrnia

Italy
he came to the
United States
in 1959 with his family. He served in the Italian Army for the
duration of WWII. He was an avid fisherman and hunter, but above all
he loved his garden. He enjoyed spending time with his family and
friends, playing cards and watching soccer games. He was a
parishioner of Church of the Immaculate Conception in
Hackensack
.
Beloved husband for
60 years of Bice Filomena (nee Padula). Loving father of Anastasio
Di Matteo and his wife Deborrah of Newton, Franco Di Matteo and his
wife Mary Grace of Manahawkin and the late John Di Matteo. Loving
Grandfather of Christina Puzio and her husband Jason, Julia,
Domenico, Nicole, Dina, Gianna and Malia Di Matteo. Adored Great
Grandfather of Rylee. Dearest brother of Ercolina Petrocelli of
Italy
. Cherished uncle of many nieces and nephews.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated
on Friday, October 31st, at the Church of the Immaculate Conception,
49 Vreeland Avenue
,
Hackensack
at 9:30 AM with burial following at St. Mary’s Cemetery in
Saddle Brook. Visiting will be on Thursday from 2 - 4 & 7 - 9
PM.
