ALFRED
R. GARINO SR. , of
Washington

formerly of
Hackensack
, died on Saturday August 30, 2008 at the age of 88 years.
He
was founder and owner of Hackensack Roofing Company. He was a member
of Hackensack Elks Lodhge # 658, for over 50 years and was a charter
member and Past President of Hackensack Chapter U.N.I.C.O. He was
honored for Distinguished Community Service on Columbus Day and
given a bust of Columbus and also honored as "Father of the
Year" in 1987 by Hackensack U.N.I.C.O. He was also a long time
member of the Hackensack Lions . He served his country during World
War II as a 2nd Class Petty Officer in the 38th
Battalion of the US Navy Seabees, on
Tinian
Island
of the
Marianas
Islands
. He was a member of the Westwood Chapter of The American Legion,
and a life member of the Washington Township V.F.W. Post # 6192 and
a member of the Apple Ridge Country Club in Mahwah. He was a long
time parishioner of
Holy
Trinity
R.C.
Church
in
Hackensack
where he and his wife were married 66 years ago.
Beloved
husband of the Late Pauline (nee Evan). Cherished son of the late
Virginia and Alfonso Garino. Devoted father of Alfred R. Garino, Jr.
and his wife Ellen of Franklin Lakes, Peter Garino of
Hackensack
, Patricia and her husband Dieter Panzer of Colorado, Dr. Pauline
Bergstein and her husband Jeffrey Wilson of
Englewood
and Geraldine Weissman of
Franklin
Township
. Cherished grandfather of Alfred Garino, III and his wife Carol of
Oradell, Stephen Garino and his wife Yvonne of Paramus, Michael
Garino of Colorado, Dieter Panzer and his wife Leigh Ann of
Colorado, Veronica Blazewicz and her husband Eric of Colorado,
Rachelle Bergstein and Parker Weissman of Franklin Township. Loving
great grandfather of Kyle, Alec, and Kristi Garino, Stephanie,
Kristie and Jenny Garino, Alexis and Elizabeth Panzer and Alison,
Alexander and Brianna Blazewicz. Dearest brother of Edwin P. Garino
and his wife Betty of Woodcliff Lake, the late Lt. Colonel Ray
Garino and his wife Jean of New Milford, and the late Anna Holland.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, September
5th. at
Holy
Trinity
R.C.
Church
, 34 Maple Avenue
Hackensack
at 12:00 PM with burial following at
Hackensack
Cemetery
. Visiting will be on Thursday from 1 - 4 & 7 - 10 PM
and Friday morning from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM.
