CHEMPAKASSERIL MAMMEN GEORGE,
was born to Mammen Mammen and Mariamma Mammem, Chempakasseril House,
on May 19, 1930 in Pandanad, Kerala, India. He grew up with three
brothers: C.M. Chacko, C.M. Thomas, and Rev. C.M. Varghese. C.M.
George accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior, and was
baptized in water as well as the Holy Spirit at an early age. He was
married to K.D. Ittiannam (Ammini), daughter of Pavu and Elia
Devessia, Koonamplakal House, Nellikunnu, Trichur on September 8th,
1955.
He started his career as a high school teacher at
Chengannur High School, Kerala. He then worked as a welfare officer
at Sultan's Battery. He was working for the Department of Health in
Kerala and retired in 1985 as the Lay Secretary and Treasurer at the
Women's and Children's Hospital, Thycadu, Trivandrum.
He was one of the early believers at IPC Tabor
Trivandrum, where he served as Sunday School Head Master and
Treasurer for fourteen years and Vice President for a few years
after. In 1988, he migrated to the U.S. where he lived with his
children and grandchildren for the past 24 years.
He dearly loved his family, his church, and above
all his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He is well remembered by all
of his friends and family for his compassion and joyful attitude
towards life. Although he lived the past few years in suffering, he
never uttered a negative word knowing that one day he will be with
the Lord.
George was survived by his beloved wife, K.D.
Ittiannam (Ammini) and four children: Bijoy C. George, David C.
George, late Mary Daniel, and Ruby Benjamin, who've married Mercy
Bijoy, Lilly George, Daniel Thomas, and Samuel Benjamin
respectively. He was blessed to have twelve grandchildren: Merlyn
and Ben David, Roselyn Bijoy, Ranjit Bijoy, Lynda George, Lindsy
George, Ann Mary Daniel, Anitha Mary Daniel, Ancy Mary Daniel,
Angela Mary Daniel, Alex Benjamin, Anitha Benjamin, and Ashbel
Benjamin; as well as his only great grandson, Preston Benjamin
David.
