DOMINICK
GIARRATANA SR. , a
lifelong resident of Hackensack, died on Monday, February 9, 2009,
at Hackensack University Medical Center, at the age of 94 years.
Prior to retiring in 1979, he worked as a union laborer for Local #
34 of Hackensack. An Army Air Force Veteran of World War II, he
was a member of the V.F.W. of Hackensack. He had a love for cooking,
gardening, and especially enjoyed his travels with his family to the
Oshkosh, Wisconsin Air Shows. Beloved husband of the late
Filomena (nee Ruffini). Devoted father of Frank Giarratana and his fiancée
Cecelia Cappiccille of North Haledon, Robert Giarratana of
Hackensack, Dominick Giarratana Jr. and his wife Rosaria of
Hackensack, and Richard Giarratana and his wife Tess of Hackensack.
Cherished grandfather of Nicole, Jason, Amanda, and Michael. Dearest
brother of the late Josephine Giannino, Frances Zisa, and Jennie
Mandara. The Mass of Requiem will be celebrated on Friday, February
13th, at St. Anthony of Padua Church at 11:00 AM, Reverend
Brian H. Laffler officiating, with entombment following at St.
Joseph's Cemetery in Hackensack.. Visiting will be on Thursday from
2 - 4 and 7 - 9 PM. Memorial donations to St. Anthony of Padua
Church, 72 Lodi Street, Hackensack, NJ 07601, would be appreciated.
