JOE I. HOLBROOK,
of Hackensack, died on Friday, January 22, 2010,
at Hackensack University Medical Center, at the age of 72 years.
Born in West Virginia, he lived in Secaucus prior to coming to
Hackensack ten years ago. He was an educator and Math Coach at
Bergen Academies of Hackensack. He received his Maters Degree in
Mathematics and Mathematics Education from Syracuse University and
later went on to receive his doctorate degree. He was the recipient
of the May Slife Award which is presented by the Mathematical
Association of America to the outstanding high school instrructor.
He was q member of the American Mathematical Society. A veteran of
the United States Air Force, he was a member of American Legion Post
# 310 of Little Ferry. He is survived by his sister, Jacquelyn Crowl of
Mansfield, Ohio and several nieces and nephews. Memorial service
will be held on Thursday evening from 7 - 9 PM.
