MICHAEL MARINO,
65, passed away
May 17, 2011 with his family by his side. Michael was born on
December 1, 1945 in Pozzallo Sicily, the son of the late Sarina
and Carmelo Marino. He was a lifelong resident of Hackensack. He
passed away after a courageous battle with cancer. Michael
attended Hackensack High School. After graduating, he served in
the United States Army. He served his country proudly during the
Vietnam War where he earned numerous military accommodations.
After being
discharged, he worked at S.G. Goldberg in Hackensack for more
than forty years as a shipping foreman. He was a devoted
parishioner of St. Francis Church where he served as a
Eucharistic Minister. He was also a loyal member of the
Hackensack Chapter of Unico National and the Hackensack Troast
Athletic Club. Michael was an avid NY Rangers, Yankees, and
Giants fan. He will always be remembered for his keen sense of
humor and ability to make people laugh. Michael is survived by
his loving wife, Elide and their two sons, Carmelo and his wife
Meghan, and Benny and his fiancé Paola Candela. He also leaves
behind two grandchildren, Aiden and Brielle. He is also
survived by his dear sister Rosemarie and her husband Pasquale
Maisano; their children John, Vincent, and Maria Sudol. Michael
will be deeply missed by those who knew him. He touched the
lives of many people. He will live on in our hearts forever. The
Funeral on Friday May 20, 2011 at 8:30 AM from the G. Thomas
Gentile Funeral Home, 397 Union Street, Hackensack, NJ. The Mass
of Christian Burial 10:00 AM, at St. Francis R.C. Church, 50
Lodi Street, Hackensack. Entombment will follow at Calvary
Cemetery, Paterson. The family will receive friends on Thursday
from 2 – 4 & 7 – 9 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made
