Dr. John J. Meany,
88, of Hackensack, formerly of River Edge, died on Thursday,
September 29, 2005 at the New Jersey Veterans Home in Paramus. Prior
to retiring in 1993, Dr. Meany had a dental practice in North Bergen
since 1946. He was a graduate of Columbia University Dental School
of New York. An Army veteran of World War II he achieved the rank of
Captain. He was a parishioner of Holy Trinity R. C. Church of
Hackensack, a member of the Knights of Columbus of River Edge,
former scout master of Troop # 184 of St. Peter the Apostle R. C.
Church of River Edge and a member of the Hudson County Dental
Society. Dr. Meany is survived by his daughter, Rosemarie Meany
his three sons, Michael Meany, Patrick Meany, and Charles Meany and
a sister, Mary Hallinan. He was predeceased by his wife Frances J.
(nee Horan) ,a son John J. Meany Jr., two brothers, Eddie Meany and
Charles Meany, and two sisters, Teresa Moir and Martha Grote. The
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, October 3rd, at 10
AM at Holy Trinity R. C. Church, 34 Maple Avenue, Hackensack. The
family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday and
Sunday evening from 7 - 9 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family
prefers memorial donations to the Alzheimer's Association, Greater
New Jersey Chapter, 400 Morris Avenue, Suite 251, Denville, NJ
07834-1365.
