MATTHEW O'CONNOR, entered into eternal rest on June 20, 2011,  at the age of 81 years. He was a native of County Cork, Ireland, and lived in Saddle Brook for many years. Beloved husband for 42 years of the late C. Christina (nee Walsh).  Devoted father of Kara and her husband Robert C. Welch, Jr. of Ramsey, Brian of Saddle Brook. and Fiona and her husband Ted Dolan of Bernardsville.  He was adored by his four grandchildren, Connor Dolan, Caroline Dolan, Robert C. Welch, III and Matthew Welch.  Dear brother of Tim O’Connor and Paddy O’Connor of Ireland.  He was cherished by his brother and sister-in-laws, nieces and nephews.  Matthew began his banking career in NYC at Marine Midland Bank and then worked at Banker’s Trust for ten years.  He joined United Jersey Bank in Hackensack and retired as an executive in the Investment Management Division after 25 years of service.  He was an active member and past President of the Bergen Irish Association and St. Joseph’s Gaelic Football Club.  He was a longtime parishioner of St. Philip the Apostle  R.C. Church.  The family will receive relatives and friends at the  G. Thomas Gentile Funeral Home ,397 Union Street, Hackensack, NJ  on Sunday, June 26, from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM.  The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Philip the Apostle R. C. Church, 488 Saddle River Road,  Saddle Brook on Monday, June 27, at 10:30 AM with interment following at George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus.  He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
