Nicholas
F. Paciullo, of Hackensack, died on Monday, June 12, 2006,
at his home, after a long and courageous heartbreaking battle with
cancer, at the age of 83 years. He was born in Queens, New York, and
prior to retiring in 1991, he was a foreman for Genvac Machine Company
of Long Island, New York for 42 years. Nick was a proud U.S. Marine
Veteran of World War II enlisting at the age of 19 in 1943. He rose to
the rank of corporal and was Honorably Discharged in 1945. He fought in
the Pacific Campaign (Marshall Islands), was wounded in action, and was
the recipient of the Purple Heart and Two Gold Stars for his multiple
wounds received at Marshall Island and Iwo Jima. His unit, E-2-23,
fought four major battles: Saipan, Tinian, Iwo Jima, and Roi Namur,
which were called the four greatest battles in Marine Corp history. His
unit received two Presidential Citations. He was a life member of the
American Legion Post # 170 of Rochelle Park, a life member of the
Disabled American Veterans Chapter # 32 of Bergenfield, and Veterans of
Foreign War Post # 7408 of Maywood. He was a parishioner of Holy Trinity
R. C. Church of Hackensack. He is survived by his wife of 34
years, Gladys La Salle Paciullo, his daughter Carol Grimaldi and her
husband Fred, his son, Robert Paciullo, his grand daughters,
Kathleen Stretton and her husband James, Cara Intoci and her husband
Sal, and Jessica Grimaldi , his great grandchildren, Jamie and Chloe
Stretton, his sister, Grace Aulivola, his sister in law, Jean Keenan and
her husband Bob, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by twp
sisters, Rose Scotti and Ann Ruffino and a brother, Danny Paciullo. His
overwhelming love for his family and friends was an inspiration to all
and he will be deeply missed. The Mass of Christian Burial will be
offered at Holy Trinity R. C. Church, 34 Maple Avenue, Hackensack, on
Friday at 10:00 AM with burial following at Brigadier General William C.
Doyle Veterans Cemetery in Arnytown, NJ. Visiting will be on Thursday
from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 PM. Memorial donations to the American Institute
for Cancer Research, 1759 R Street NW, PO Box 97167, Washington DC,
20090 or the World War II Memorial fund, PO Box 305, Calverton, NY
11933 would be appreciated.
