JOSEPH W. ROMANO,
a lifelong resident of Hackensack, died on Sunday, July 18, 2010, at
his home, at the age of 82 years. Prior to retiring, he owned
Romano's
Coliseum of Maywood for 25 years.
He was an Army veteran of World War II and during service he joined
the 356th Army band. After service he became a member of the
Hackensack Doremus Drum and Bugle Corp and then went on to form his
own band which performed on WPAT radio. He was a member of the
American Legion Post # 142 of Maywood and the Maywood Athletic Club
where he was instrumental in starting a scholarship fund. He was a
member of the Master Barber's Association and Local #1242 of
Paterson. He was a parishioner of Holy Trinity R. C. Church of
Hackensack. Beloved husband for 61 years of Marie R. (nee Maura).
Devoted father of Kathleen Romano-Mizeski and her husband Joseph of
Cedar Grove, David Romano and his wife Christina of Hackensack,
Robin Caino and her husband John of Hackensack and Dawn Massa and
her husband James of Saddle Brook. Loving grandfather of Brian,
LoriAnn, Mark, Brian J., Michelle, Karen, Ashley. Sam, Matthew,
Harrison and Joseph. Cherished great grandfather of Kyle, Brian,
Allison and Emily. Dearest brother of the late Joseph A. Romano,
Arthur Romano, Daniel Romano, Mary
Davino, Adeline Sudano, and Bernice
Browne. Dear Brother-in-law of Vincent Maura and his wife Betty of
Paramus. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on
Wednesday, July 21st, at Holy Trinity R. C. Church at 10:00 AM with
entombment following at Garden of Memories in Washington Township.
Visiting will be on Monday evening from 7 - 9 PM and Tuesday from 2
- 4 and 7 - 9 PM. Memorial donations to Hackensack Hospice, 30
Prospect Avenue, Hackensack, NJ 07601 or the St. Vincent de Paul
Society of Holy Trinity R. C. Church, 34 Maple Avenue, Hackensack,
NJ 07601 would be appreciated.
