Elisa V. Velasquez Torres, of Hackensack, died on Sunday, January 14, 2007, at her home at the age of 71 years. She was born in Puerto Rico. Prior to retiring, she was a cafeteria worker for the Board of Education for the City of New York where she worked for more than 25 years. She was a parishioner of El Amanecer de la Esperanza Church of Garfield and the Hackensack Senior Center. She is survived by her husband Jose M. Torres Sr., her daughter, Jeannette Torres-Witter and her husband Theodore of Bergenfield, her son, Jose M. Torres Jr. of New York, two grandchildren, Arielle and Brandon, two brothers, Luis Velasquez and his wife Yolanda and Eugene Velasquez and a sister, Wanda Velasquez, all from Puerto Rico. The religious service by Reverend Orlando Muriel will be held on Tuesday evening at 8:30 PM. Burial will be on Wednesday at Maple Grove Park Cemetery. Visiting will be on Tuesday evening from 5 - 9 PM.
