Obituary of Karlis E. Salmins

SALMINS KARLIS E. of Maywood, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 30, 2014, at the age of 88. Prior to retiring he was a supervisor of the maintenance department for J.P. Morgan Chase Bank, Wall St. New York, he was president of the New York Latvia Society, a member of the German Club, Turner Hall in Carlstadt and he was a Latvia Army veteran of World War II and a former prisoner of war held capture in Belgium. Beloved husband of Ingely I. (nee Schittek) for 54 years. Loving father of Leane R. Zitkus and her husband Anthony of Queens, NY, Karlis B. Salmins and his wife Grace of Wyckoff and Gerhard E. Salmins and his wife Sherry of Wyckoff. Cherished grandfather of nine grandchildren and great grandfather of four. The family will receive friends on Saturday May 2, at the funeral home from 3:00 – 7:00 PM for visitation; with a prayer service at 4:00 PM. Cremation will be private.
